The Challenge

Larry runs a 12-bay distribution center handling multiple vendor accounts. The dock office had a whiteboard that was wrong half the time. Forklift drivers radioed dispatch to ask “what's in Bay 3?” constantly. Receiving staff had no live progress visibility — under-receiving and double-receiving were common. When a PO contained hazmat, someone had to remember to post the placard. And the PA system? Hard to hear over the forklifts.

TAG58 Dock Door Signs

Every bay has a 5.8″ screen showing the assigned PO — vendor name, PO number, item count, ETA. Mounted at forklift cab height, readable from 20 feet. No more radioing dispatch to ask what's in the bay.

Live Receiving Progress

As warehouse staff scan pallets into the system, the dock sign updates in real time — “23% received” → “47%” → “89%” → “COMPLETE.” The forklift driver's dashboard. No clipboard, no radio call, no walking to a computer.

Hazmat Safety Placards

When a PO contains hazardous materials, the dock sign automatically switches to GHS pictograms and handling instructions — before anyone opens the bay. PPE requirements, first aid procedures, hazmat class — all from custom data fields.

Emergency Broadcast

One API call and every TAG58 on the dock floor shows “EVACUATE — FIRE ALARM — EXIT NORTH.” E-paper retains the message even if power goes out. The safety auditor couldn't believe it wasn't hardwired.

Guardian Resilience — The Commander sits in Larry's dock office alongside the inventory server. When the internet drops, dock signs keep updating. PO assignments, receiving progress, hazmat displays — all work locally. The cloud syncs when connectivity returns.

“We used to have a whiteboard by the dock office. It was wrong half the time. Now the bays tell you what's coming and how far along you are.”

On dock visibility

“The hazmat thing sold our safety manager. She doesn't have to trust that someone remembered to post the placard — it's automatic from the PO.”

On safety compliance

“When we tested the emergency broadcast, every dock sign flipped to EVACUATE in about a minute. Our safety auditor couldn't believe it wasn't hardwired.”

On emergency broadcast

“My forklift guys love it. They pull up to Bay 5, see it says ‘Sysco, 47 items, 89% done,’ and they know exactly what's happening without picking up a radio.”
